myReflection makes custom 3D-printed breast prostheses for women after mastectomy. The idea came from director Tim Carr after his partner and co-founder, Fay Cobbett, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and struggled with generic silicone inserts. Tim spent two years developing the product with 3D printing engineer Jase Barnett before launching in February 2019. Each prosthesis is made from a 3D scan of the wearer’s chest, so it sits comfortably against the body. It is designed to be covered by the government breast prosthesis subsidy. Scans are available at 23 clinics across New Zealand, and the team offers a free phone consultation on 09 366 3555 or by email at [email protected]. Find out more at myreflection.co.nz.
